HISTORY OF CCBT

Over the last couple of decades, several church networks in the world have attempted to make Bibles or Scripture portions available in their heart languages for establishing their churches and believers. These emerged separately and independently, based on their own felt needs for scripture. Various models emerged as a search for new ways of doing Bible translation, prioritising faster, cheaper and better models.  Some of them called this “Paradigm X" Bible translation movement. The ultimate goal of each of these initiatives was to achieve a quality assured Bible in every language in the shortest possible time.

These emerging processes are now generally being known as CCBT, while some may refer to them differently. The net result is that the scripture translation has now become part of the process of establishing churches with strong biblical foundations. The thirst for scripture is growing globally among the churches; they no longer have to wait for a completed Bible and to begin using scripture portions that they need.

The goal of the CCBT movement is clearly beyond translation to establishing communities of faithful disciples.
